Downloaded/installed Fo xit 6.0.6.0722 but areas of document that are colored won't print in color ... suspect I've not set it up correctly.

Previous Foxit worked OK.

'Pages' (at left of screen) show colors but main work area is only B&W - and printouts are only B&W.

Foxit seems to have gone overboard in Version  6 ... in making it 'do everything', they have made it VERY complicated

Have you checked your printer settings to see that Foxit has not set to print in B&W - gray scale on some printers - only ?

I have printed in color immediately before and after trying with Foxit.  The same PDF (i.e. with colored areas) prints successfully in color using Adobe Reader.

Yes, but what I meant was to check, while in Foxit, that it wasn't changing your default printer settings to B&W. I assume that when you click either 'Print' or go 'Ctrl+P' that you get the printer screen up. This normally has a printer properties or options button where you can check the settings on the printer.

I have software in which the previous version would automatically switch between portrait and landscape mode. The latest version doesn't - go figure !

Aha ...  misinterpreted - Sorry ... thanks for the update

Am embarassed ... print options have 'print as grayscale' turned on.

Is there a way to turn it off pemanently (i.e. remember that it's not 'checked')? ... any reason that Ctrl+P doesn't work but is click on icon print works?

Ah well, at least you now  know what is happening !

To find out if you can permanently set the printer to colour you are going to have to plough through the printer options, or just get into the habit of checking the printer settings when you use Foxit.

I have a Canon printer and if I want to print in gray scale - as I do from time to time - then if I set it to gray scale it stays that way until either I change it back to colour or close the application and open a different application, then it reverts to the default which is colour.

Not all applications support keystroke combinations, which is probably why Foxit doesn't respond to 'Ctrl+P'. In general, from my experience, clicking the printer icon on the menu bar sends a job to the printer with default settings and you don''t see the printer panel. Clicking 'File / Print' normally brings up the printer screen so you can control the printing.

NOT THE SOLUTION WHEN NOTES HAVE BEEN ADDED!

Added notes (answers to questions in a pdf document) and turned OFF greyscale - but the notes don't print in color ... actually the notes (i.e. answers) don't print AT ALL. Used Adobe Reader and the notes print (in color too). This is not a huge problem ... just more convenient if I could print from Foxit while already there (i.e. when finished answerinh/making notes) -- Foxit used to do it.

If I scan a document (containing color) Foxit prints the color (when I turn greyscale off) - that's why I thought 'greyscale' was the answer.

BTW: greyscale stayed turned off between new instances of Foxit

I am sorry, but I can't help you with this last little problem - I don't have enough hands-on experience with Foxit. I tried it once briefly and wasn't all that impressed. That was a while ago, and no doubt it has been improved since.

I think the only experience I have had of filling in a downloaded PDF file was a grant application, but I was using Acrobat and it worked perfectly well - printed the responses and everything.

Just a thought, but if you save the document with your notes / responses in them and then re-open it, does it print then ?

Saving/re-opening doesn't help.

Are you referring to the annotations?

Have you tried this?

Open the print dialog box;

Point to Print What at the bottom of the dialog box;

Select Print Document and Annotations.

Thank you, chrisd87

MY BAD - you're exactly right.

Thought I had investigated this but obviously not.  It wasn't necessary in previous versions of Foxit, but that fixes the problem - thank you again
